Sahiwal Cow

The Sahiwal originated in the dry Punjab region, which borders India and Pakistan.They were once kept in large herds by professional herdsmen called “Junglies.” They began to be kept in smaller numbers by the region’s farmers, who used them as draft and dairy animals after the introduction of irrigation systems.

The Sahiwal is now considered one of the best dairy breeds in India and Pakistan.Due to their heat tolerance and high milk production, they have been exported to other Asian countries as well as to Africa and the Caribbean.In the early 1950s, the Sahiwal was exported to Australia via New Guinea. In Australia, the Sahiwal was initially selected as a dual-purpose breed. It played a valuable role in the development of the two Australian tropical dairy breeds, the Australian Milking Zebu and the Australian Fresian Sahiwal.

Sahiwals are now predominately used in Australia for beef production, as crossing high-grade Sahiwal sires with Bos taurus animals produces a carcass of lean quality with desirable fat cover.  With varying amounts of white on the neck and underline, their colour can range from a reddish brown to a more prominent red. The head, legs, and tail of males are the areas where the colour gets darker. It is known for its high resistance to both internal and external parasites, as well as its resistance to heat and ticks.  While nursing a calf, cows produce an average of 2270 KG of milk, although significantly higher milk yields have been observed.  They are best suited to slow work due to their general composure and lack of energy. The Sahiwal is the Zebu breed that produces the most milk and has a well-developed udder. Sahiwals are known for having small calves that grow up quickly and for being able to live in harsh environments.

The Black Bengal Goat

The Black Bengal goat is a type of goat that can be found in Bangladesh, West Bengal, Assam, and Odisha. This breed is usually black, but it can also be brown, white, or gray. The Black Bengal goat is small in size, but it has a tight body structure. It has small horns and short legs. An adult male goat weighs between 25 and 30 kg, while a female goat weighs between 20 and 25 kg. It has a low milk production rate. Because of its low feed demand and high kid production rate, it is extremely popular in Bangladesh. Black Bengal goats reach sexual maturity sooner than most other breeds. The female goat becomes pregnant twice a year and has one to three children. This breed adapts easily to any environment and has a high level of disease resistance.

It is preferred for its skin and high proliferation rate, and it produces high-quality meat and skin.  This breed is critical in Bangladesh’s efforts to reduce unemployment and poverty.  They can eat most vegetables, grasses, and leaves, but eating too many carrots is fatal.
